The essentials

What is COEX Academy?

A free school of foreign trade, in Spanish first, that teaches from the law in force. One account brings four pillars together: the Aula (learning paths), the Biblioteca (laws and tariff with date and source), the Radar (what changes every day) and Pregúntale (answers cited to the Biblioteca).

What does it cost?

Nothing. The account is free and opens everything published at opening. If paid courses are offered later, they will be additional, and the Biblioteca will remain free.

Who is it for?

People importing or exporting for the first time; staff at customs brokerages, forwarders, carriers and logistics providers; compliance teams; students; and professionals who need the source at hand.

Can I use COEX Academy instead of a customs broker or a lawyer?

No. COEX Academy teaches and informs; it is not legal advice, nor tax or customs advice. In a specific operation, classification and clearance are the responsibility of the importer or exporter and their customs broker; for a legal opinion, consult a lawyer.

When does it open?

We will open in cohorts. Join the waitlist: we review every request and email the invitation when yours opens.

Access and account

Why is there a waitlist?

Because we open in cohorts, to accompany each group and look after the quality of the content. A person reviews every request.

What data do you ask for, and why?

Your name, email, role, state or country, interests and, if you wish, your organization. We use them only to manage your request and invitation; the privacy notice explains it in detail.

How do I get in once approved?

You will receive an invitation at the email you registered. From there you create your account and sign in on the web or in the app for your phone.

Are there certificates?

Yes. When you finish a path you receive a certificate with a public verification page. It is a recognition from COEX Academy; it is not an official accreditation and does not replace an authorization from the authorities.

Can I study from outside Mexico?

Yes. The content starts from Mexican law and the corridor with the United States, and anyone approved can study from wherever they are.

Content and sources

Where does the content come from?

From the original publication: the DOF, the Cámara de Diputados, SAT, ANAM and the Secretaría de Economía in Mexico; the eCFR, USITC and CBP in the United States. Every lesson and every answer cites the provision and its date.

What happens when the law changes?

The Radar detects the publication, links the provisions that change and flags the lessons that cite them. Those lessons show as “under review” until a person updates them.

How does Pregúntale answer?

Only with texts from the Biblioteca, citing every statement to the provision in force on the date of the question. When it finds no basis, it abstains. For tariff classification it proposes options; the decision is yours and your customs broker's.

Who writes the lessons?

They are drafted from the sources, with the help of artificial intelligence tools, and a person reviews and approves every lesson before it is published.

Is it in English?

The interface is in Spanish and English. Courses are published in Spanish first; English versions will follow.
